What is the most memorable moment of your career?

As a lawyer, I spend a lot of time behind a desk dealing with paper. My favorite memories at this company are the days when our amazing field takes time out of their busy days to walk me through their projects. It always amazes me to see how they are able to innovate, and problem solve and turn the paper I see into stunning structures. I will never forget the day when one of our superintendents very patiently took me to the top of a tower crane, and I got to get an up-close look at one of our operators doing his thing—it was scary and exhilarating and so much cooler than working at a law firm!

What is the most interesting (or favorite) part of your job?

Everyday is different, and no day is dull. There is always something new to learn, and something new to overcome. Our leadership really encourages us to constantly think of ways that we can continue to improve and push the envelope, so the sky is the limit on picking an initiative to tackle!

How do you define success in your career?

Let’s be honest, lawyers are generally not everyone’s favorite, but I like to try and break those perceptions by aiming to be helpful, practical, and fair! Internally, I have so much respect and admiration for what our field and project management staff do. Anytime that I can be an asset to help them navigate through a tough issue and make their day a little easier, I feel good about my job. Externally, in my opinion, so much of this industry is built upon integrity, trust, and partnerships, so I feel successful when I can build and cultivate strong, respectful and fair relationships with our clients and vendors.

Why McHugh Concrete?
